Poet Moira Egan (A.B. Bryn Mawr College; M.A. Writing Seminars, Johns Hopkins University; M.F.A. Columbia University, SOA’92) is celebrating the publication of her ninth poetry collection, Amore e morte, a bilingual (English & Italian) volume of New & Selected Poems (Rome: Edizioni Tlon, 2022). Her poems and essays have been published in journals and anthologies on four continents. Moira won Columbia University’s first David Craig Austin Memorial Award for a graduate poetry manuscript (James Merrill, Judge, 1992). She has had writing fellowships at the Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center; Civitella Ranieri; St James Centre for Creativity, Malta; the James Merrill House; and she was a Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation Fellow at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. With her husband, Damiano Abeni, she has translated numerous volumes of American poetry into Italian, winning such awards as the Fondazione Cini “Benno Geiger” Prize for Translation, the Premio Napoli, and the Premio Poesia Città di Fiumicino.

Moira lives in Rome and teaches Creative Writing at St Stephen’s School.
