A Roman Rare Book Collection

Upcoming Event: November 21, 2019. 6 p.m.  The Rare Book Collection of Dr. Giovanni Aldobrandini, GSAS '76.

An exclusive visit to one of the great private collections of illustrated books, assembled by a scholar of British history — and descendant of Clement VII.

The family of Prince Giovanni Aldobrandini commissioned the artist Domenichino to make what are now considered the first pure landscape paintings, back in the early sevententh century.

Dr. Aldobrandini is our kind host on a tour of his extraordinary collection of illustrated books. We will be welcomed into his private "Wunderkammer," and see examples by Picasso, Matisse, Mirò, and many other great masters, of the twentieth, but also twenty-first century.  Limited to 10.
